Roosevelt High School encourages all students to participate in athletics, band and cheer squad, regardless of ability to pay. We are proud that over 750 Roosevelt students participate in these programs each year. Last year 51 students played on one of Roosevelt's three baseball teams.
The purpose of the Auction is to help fund Roosevelt's 20 sports teams, cheer squad and band. Roosevelt's baseball team is one of those 20 teams.
When it comes to baseball the Kingco Conference is the most competitive conference in the State. It costs the baseball team a considerable amount of money to field a Kingco competitive program each year. While maintaining Kingco competitiveness, it's also important to keep the program affordable for families from both a cost and commitment perspective.
With the above in mind, the baseball team uses the Auction to accomplish the following:
- To lower the cost of "pay-for-play", the team's goal is to raise 50% of its annual budget through contributed income. The Auction is one of our key contributed income fund raising tools. 50% of the auction value for items procured by baseball families goes directly to the baseball program.
- Raise at least $4,000 for the team from this parent participation event.
- Create a "One-And-Done" fund raising environment for our baseball families. Support the Auction and baseball families are done fund raising for the year.
- Make sure our only parent participation fund raising event is a fun event, not a cold and wet event.
